About us

What is the St. Louis Empowerment Center?

We are a daily drop-in center driven by a mission deeply rooted in compassion and support. We service individuals in the St. Louis area who have lived experience with mental health and/or substance use disorders.

Our Unique Approach

We believe that peers can offer a unique perspective because they have walked a similar path. Everyone at the St. Louis Empowerment Center, from the Executive Director to the participants, has lived experience in the recovery process. Together, we support each other's growth and sustain our recovery journeys.

We recognize that every individual's path to recovery is unique, and that's why we offer free Peer Support Services that complement existing treatments. We don't seek to duplicate or compete with traditional treatment providers; instead, we aim to reduce their demands by providing services that can be effectively and appropriately delivered by peer-to-peer recovery programs.

St. Louis Empowerment Center Values

We believe in community-driven programming by encouraging participants to suggest new services that  benefit their recovery and foster peer leadership development.

St. Louis Empowerment Center Team

Our peer leadership development empowers participants to give back. They can receive training and become employees while they continue to develop their leadership skills.
